Day Trade:
Buying and selling the same stock during the same trading day during trading hours (9:30AM EST - 4:00PM EST)
Swing Trade:
A stock that is either bought at a lower price and sold at a higher price OR stock is borrowed on options at a higher price and sold back at a lower price when an anticipated price fluctuation occurs.
Limit Buy:
Establishing a maximum price you’re willing to pay for a stock.
Stop Limit Buy:
Establishing a price above the current price that converts your purchase order to a limit buy order.
Stop Loss Buy:
Establishing a price above the current market price that when met changes the order to a market buy order.
Market Buy:
Purchasing a stock at the current market price (market pricing reflected in trading apps is consistently not accurate so you will likely pay more than indicated)
Limit Sell:
Establishing a price you're willing to sell a stock.
Stop Limit Sell:
Establishing a price below the current market price that triggers a limit sell of your stock.
Stop Loss Sell:
Establishing a price below the current market price of a stock that will trigger conversion of the order to a market sell order.
Market Sell:
Selling a stock at the current market price (market pricing reflected in trading apps is consistently not accurate so you will likely receive less than indicated)
Trigger Price:
A predicted price where a stock will either raise or decrease substantially in value.
Target Price:
A predicted price where you exit the market on a particular stock to ideally claim your gains.
Upside:
Predicted amount of potential gains a stock will obtain.
Volatility:
The predicted likelihood of uncertainty in market price of a stock.
Timing:
The predicted time frame that a stock will meet the upside goal. Short = average of a day, Long = average of a month.
